Become a Hero for the Animals

Give back and receive more love than you could ever imagine.

The Details

Have you ever wanted to make a real difference? At Gaia's Serenity, volunteering isn't just about mucking out stables or filling water troughs — it's about looking into the eyes of a cow who was thrown away as a "waste product" and watching him lean into your hand for scratches. It's about seeing a surrendered goat blossom with confidence because you showed up. Every Saturday morning from 8-11am, our volunteer team gathers to feed hungry bellies, clean cozy shelters, give scratches and cuddles (yes, that's actually a job!), and help maintain the sanctuary that these beautiful souls call home. You don't need experience or to be strong or know anything about farm animals — you just need to care. Whether you've got both hours or just one to spare, your time here matters. You'll laugh at goat antics, be bowled over by Fifi's enthusiastic greetings, and leave with a full heart and probably some hay in your hair. This isn't just volunteering — it's community, purpose, and connection. So if you've been thinking about it, stop thinking. The animals are waiting, and we'd love to welcome you to our volunteer family this Saturday.

Volunteering FAQ's

What should I expect?

Expect to get your hands dirty, your heart full, and probably some hay in your hair! Our Saturday morning volunteer sessions (8-10am) involve feeding the animals, cleaning shelters and water troughs, mucking out stables, general maintenance around the sanctuary, and plenty of animal cuddles and scratches. You'll be working alongside a friendly team of volunteers who love what they do. It's physical work, but incredibly rewarding. Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty, bring sun protection, and come ready to laugh at goat antics and fall in love with our residents.

What do I need to bring?

Bring yourself and an open heart! We recommend: closed-toe shoes or boots (essential for safety), clothes you don't mind getting dirty or muddy, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated, and work gloves if you have them (though we have extras). If it's been raining, gumboots are your best friend. Everything else — the tools, the animal feed, and the good vibes — we've got covered.

What is the minimum commitment?

There's no minimum commitment! Whether you can join us every Saturday or just once in a while, we're grateful for whatever time you can give. Some volunteers come weekly, others pop in monthly, and some join us for a one-off experience. Every pair of hands helps, and there's no pressure. Come when you can, stay as long as you're able. Even one Saturday morning makes a real difference to our animals.

I'm a scared of animals can I still participate?

Absolutely! We have plenty of tasks that don't require direct animal contact — cleaning equipment, filling water buckets, maintaining enclosures, organizing supplies, and general property upkeep. And who knows? Working around our gentle, rescued residents in a safe, supportive environment might just help you feel more comfortable over time. Our animals are patient, and so are we. You're welcome here regardless of your comfort level, and we'll never pressure you to interact with animals if you're not ready.

I'm not vegan, can I still attend?

Yes! We welcome anyone with a kind heart and a willingness to help. While Gaia's Serenity was founded on compassion for all animals, we understand everyone is on their own journey. What matters most is that you're here, showing up to help these beautiful souls who've been given a second chance. We ask that you have an open mind about veganism, you do not bring any animal products to the sanctuary and remain respectful towards vegan team members.
