Sanctuary Tour FAQ's

Can I touch or feed the animals?

Some of our residents love scratches and attention, while others prefer to keep their distance. Our tour guide will let you know who's up for interaction and provide any treats for feeding. Always follow instructions and never approach animals without permission—it's for your safety and theirs.

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes! Tours are available only to those who have donated $100+ and booked via email at info@gaiasserenity.org. Walk-ins are not permitted as we need to manage visitor numbers for animal welfare and safety.

I can't make Saturdays. Can I book another time?

Unfortunately, no. As we're a private sanctuary run by volunteers, we're only open and staffed on Saturdays between 8am-11am. This ensures our animals have a consistent routine and adequate supervision during visitor hours. We appreciate your understanding!

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! Children are welcome on tours, but for their safety they must remain behind the fencing at all times. Our residents are gentle, but they're also large animals who can accidentally knock over small visitors in their excitement. Adult supervision is required for all children.

Is there parking available?

Yes, we have parking on-site. Please park at the top of the driveway and walk down. The driveway is steep and rocky. Please be prepared for a reasonable walk. Do not bock driveway access when parking.

Is the sanctuary wheelchair/pram accessible?

We're a working farm sanctuary with uneven terrain, mud, and gravel paths. While we do our best to accommodate everyone, accessibility can be challenging depending on recent weather conditions. Please contact us before booking if you have specific mobility needs so we can advise honestly.

What if it rains?

Tours run rain or shine! We'll only cancel in severe weather conditions (storms, flooding, extreme heat). If we need to cancel, we'll contact you to reschedule. Bring an umbrella or raincoat if rain is forecast—our animals don't mind getting wet!

Can I bring food or drinks?

You're welcome to bring water and plant-based snacks or lunch. However, no animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, honey) are permitted on sanctuary grounds out of respect for our residents and our mission. Please keep all food secured and dispose of waste properly.

How long does the tour last?

Tours run for approximately 1 hour. This gives you time to meet the residents, hear their stories, and ask questions without overwhelming the animals or disrupting their routine.

What should I wear?

Wear closed-toe shoes (boots are ideal, especially if it's been raining), comfortable clothes you don't mind getting dirty, and weather-appropriate clothing. Avoid loose scarves or dangling jewelry that animals might grab. Bring a hat and sunscreen for sunny days!

Can I take photos?

Absolutely! We encourage you to take photos and share them on social media (tag us @gaias_serenity!). However, please be mindful of the animals—no flash photography, and never chase or corner an animal for a photo.

What if someone in my group has allergies?

Our sanctuary is home to animals with fur, feathers, hay, and dust. If you or anyone in your group has severe allergies to animals or hay, please consider whether a farm visit is suitable. We cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule?

Please email info@gaiasserenity.org as soon as possible. We'll do our best to reschedule your tour to another Saturday. Tours are non-refundable, but we understand life happens and will work with you where we can.

Can I bring my dog?

Unfortunately, no. For the safety and comfort of our sanctuary residents, no pets are allowed on the property. Service animals may be permitted on a case-by-case basis—please contact us before booking.
