To offer lifelong sanctuary, kindness, and care to animals in need. Nestled in the tranquil hills of Ormeau, Gaia’s Serenity is more than a sanctuary — it’s a vision of compassion brought to life. What began in 2018, when Gareth made the life-changing decision to go vegan, has since grown into a safe haven for animals once destined for suffering. In 2023, that vision deepened when Gareth leased 15 acres of land and, together with his partner Emily, transformed it into a forever home for cows, pigs, goats, horses, and other beings who were abandoned, neglected, surrendered, or forgotten. From the moment they arrive, every animal is embraced as family — each one a someone, never a something. With the devotion of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the strength of a community that believes in kindness, Gaia’s Serenity continues to blossom. Here, every resident receives the love, care, and respect they deserve, while their stories inspire humans everywhere to imagine — and create — a gentler world. This land is just the beginning — a stepping stone toward one day purchasing a larger property on the Gold Coast. With every life we save and every heart we touch, our resolve grows stronger to create a permanent sanctuary that will outlive Gareth and Emily. Our dream is to leave behind a lasting legacy: a forever refuge for animals and a gift to the compassionate community that makes it all possible.
